Ann is professor emeritus of Cell and Molecular Physiology at the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill after a career in research and teaching in the field of neurobiology. Over the years she has used the glasses to enliven her lectures on hearing to students of all ages. She has studied piano and French horn in the past, and at present plays cello in chamber groups.
Jonathan is a composer, cellist, and web designer/developer. A summa cum laude graduate of Middlebury College in 2005, he worked until 2009 at Shodor, a nonprofit in Durham, NC, where he mentored students on how to use computers for web development, programming, graphics, and scientific modeling. In 2011 he received his Masters of Music from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is the layout editor of Glass Music World, the newsletter of Glass Music International.
John Moore, husband, father, and professor emeritus of Neurobiology at Duke University, is the technical support system for the glasses. He has constructed the current pedestal system as well as previous arrangements and is in charge of audio and video recording of engagements.
